As a third generation "furniture guy" I have seen over the years why some furniture stores thrive in the toughest of times, while others struggle even when the economy is flourishing. For the past several years I have studied the best operators in other industries to see how they were growing their businesses in spite of competitive pressures that they faced. I saw that these best operators were applying direct response marketing in ways that had never been applied before in our field, even though it was working in a number of other places.

My frustrations with the same old furniture advertising that offers little if any product benefit to the consumer has made me look outside of the industry for ideas. Basically, I decided to take on the role of "direct marketing furniture detective" and spend as much time as possible learning everything I could about direct marketing for our industry. The trick, however, was to learn how to master direct response marketing techniques and teach them to all of my colleagues without having it cost an arm and a leg. Why Am I Doing This For FREE?

That’s a valid question.

To date, I have had the good fortune of a successful career in the industry.?nbsp; I've been fortunate in my life to have worked with, and become friends with, some of the best and brightest figures in the furniture industry.

Through my industry associations as well as a lifetime of observing the industry, I have come to the conclusion that we as an industry spend way too much for expensive non-responsive advertising.?nbsp; I also believe that we don’t send the right message about the benefits of our furniture products when the only thing we can get people in the store with is no interest financing.

I am making this Furniture Insiders Club a personal crusade to bring the benefits of direct response marketing to the furniture industry.?nbsp; Others have talked about creating a desire for new home furnishings, but no one has really unlocked the code as to how to get customers excited about buying new furniture.?nbsp; The Furniture Insiders Club is my attempt to share with anyone who wants to learn techniques to employ to keep the retail customer engaged in you and your store.
